Open and Flexible Floor Plans

Are you looking for an open floor plan that invites light, air, and style into your home? In addition to being beautiful, the open floor plan home is inherently customizable and flexible to your changing needs.

Fairfield

How It Is Done

Ever go into a basement and see steel I-beams, steel post in the way, and heating/cooling air ducts hanging down in the way? That’s because the builder is still building with 2x10 floor joists, which can not span very far without support.

Clear-Span and Wide-Open Spaces

Sun Homes, on the other hand, builds houses using Roof and Floor Trusses. This allows all the heating/cooling ducts to be put up in the floor, out of the way. And, trusses have a much longer span without requiring steel I-beam support. In cases where really long spans and steel I-beams are required, Sun Homes puts the steel I-beams up in the floor trusses, thus providing large wide-open spaces in your home.

Wide-Open on Main Floors

Due to the utilization of Roof Trusses, no internal support walls are required. In fact, there does not have to be any internal walls whatsoever, although a few are desirable such as around bathrooms and bedrooms.

Benefits from Open Spaces

Easier Traffic Flow
Falcon Lakes

Open designs result in a series of multifunctional areas that create an uninterrupted flow. Rooms without walls are not common in traditional architecture, but what an impact they make. Fewer dividers allow easier traffic flow and more creativity with regard to furniture and art placement. The open plan offers so many options.

Natural Light

Abundant sunlight is perhaps the most valued commodity here. Present most of the day, it impacts almost every space in the home dramatically. Strategically placed picture windows work with floor-to-ceiling windows to diffuse and soften the effect of sunlight.

Grouping Furniture

Instead of focusing on formal or defined rooms, concentrate on creating natural places for rest and interaction. These gathering spaces quickly become focal points for furnishings. Oftentimes, the challenge with an open floor plan is how to divide the space into individual areas.

Courtyards and Verandas

Outdoor living space for entertaining and personal enjoyment, Sun Homes often builds “Courtyards” and “Verandas”. Courtyards are built with fountains, fire pits, stub for gas grills, and made of stamped concrete and versa lock walls. The fireplace on the courtyard also enhances the space’s entertaining atmosphere. A cheery flame seems to warm up any social gathering.
